Typical High Temperature Applications

Firesleeves, Pyrosleeves and Pyrotapes provide essential protection for personnel against burns from hot hoses and steam lines. They also offer excellent insulation properties, enabling systems to be more efficient and environmentally friendly.

As a family owned UK manufacturer, we have been leading the field in high temperature sealing and insulating materials since 1987. Technical advice on Firesleeves, Pyrosleeves, Pyrotapes and Basalt Sleeving is freely available, so please do not hesitate to contact us.

 Steel Works

& Metal Smelting

Glass fibre sleeves and tapes coated with high grade silicone elastomer coatings provide essential protection to cables and components from molten metal splash in the metal smelting industry.

Firesleeves are commonly employed on induction melting furnace coils.

Aerospace

Aerospace grade sleeves (braided) are available on request. These braided sleeves are resistant to hydraulic fluids, lubricating oils and fuels. The braided version allows qualified hose assemblies to pass AS1055D testing under stated flow and pressure conditions

Oil Rigs & Refineries

Firesleeves are used to protect hoses and cables from harsh environments and to provide protection to personnel where hot hoses or components present a danger on oil rigs and refineries.

Automotive & Motorcycle

Basalt fibre sleeves and tapes have been adopted by performance car & motorbike enthusiasts. Our high temperature sleeves give protection to sensitive components allowing bundling of wires, hoses and cables near exhaust systems.

Glass fibre and basalt exhaust wraps also provide enhanced engine performance and are used on up-rated cars and motorcycles.

Truck & Bus Exhausts

Our thick walled Basalt sleeves are specifically designed to keep exhaust gases as hot as possible as they flow through the exhaust to the catalytic converters, increasing burn efficiency and enabling these vehicles to meet the latest strict EURO 6 emissions regulations.

Industry

In all industrial areas where sparks might fly and there is a need to protect sensitive electrical components, Firesleeves, Pyrosleeves or Pyrotapes are used.

Hose Protection

Firesleeves provide additional flexible insulation to control heat loss on hot hoses, and to provide protection to personnel that may come into contact with such hoses.

Generator Exhausts

Glass fibre sleeves are often used on the exhausts of power generation units to aid noise reduction, increase efficiency and to provide protection for personnel working near the hot pipes.

Cable & Wiring Systems

Firesleeves give additional protection to cables and wires which pass close to any heat source. Typical examples would be in boilers, ovens and furnaces. Firesleeves also provide protection to components in harsh environments.

Special Applications

Firesleeves are used in special applications, for example additional insulation on fire fighting breathing apparatus. The Firesleeve protects the hose from falling hot debris which could potentially damage the apparatus in service.
