PGH.20/ROS : Firesleeve is a high-performance red oxide silicone coated glass fibre sleeving designed to provide exceptional thermal insulation and fire protection for hoses, cables, wires, hydraulic lines and industrial pipework operating in high-temperature environments.


Manufactured from durable texturised E-glass knitted glass sleeving coated with a consistent layer of iron oxide (red) silicone rubber, our firesleeve delivers superior resistance to direct flame, molten metal splash, radiant heat, abrasion, oils, fuels, hydraulic fluids and harsh industrial conditions.


PGH.20/ROS sleeving possesses outstanding characteristics making it ideal for protecting hose assemblies, cables, and wires

BS EN 45545-2:2020+A1:2023 the European fire safety standards for materials and components used in railway vehicles. These requirements help protect critical systems — including electrical cables, fuel lines and hydraulic hoses — in rail locomotives, tunnel networks, subways and underground transport systems from heat, sparks and fire exposure in confined environments. Can PGH.20/ROS provide electrical insulation as well as thermal protection?

Yes. The glass fibre and silicone construction provides electrical insulation in addition to thermal and mechanical protection. PGH.20/ROS has a stated dielectric strength of 19 kV/mm.

However, dielectric strength should not be interpreted as a system voltage rating; the suitability of the complete installation depends on factors including the electrical system, insulation geometry, temperature, environment and applicable standards.

How do I select the correct Firesleeve size for my hose or pipe?

(outside or inside diameter?)

Firesleeve is selected according to the outside diameter (O/D) of the hose, pipe, cable bundle or component being protected — not the internal diameter of the hose.


The selected sleeve should be slightly larger than the measured O/D so it can be installed without excessive stretching while maintaining close, even coverage. Where fittings or connectors prevent installation, a hook-and-loop or wrap-around solution may be more suitable.

How should Firesleeve be installed around bends, fittings and moving hoses?

The sleeve should be installed without excessive stretching, twisting or compression and should allow sufficient length for normal hose movement. Particular care should be taken around bends and fittings to avoid creating tension in the sleeve. Where a conventional tubular sleeve cannot be installed over an existing assembly, a hook-and-loop firesleeve or silicone-coated glass fibre wrap may provide a more suitable installation method.

Can Firesleeve withstand repeated exposure to high temperatures?

PGH.20/ROS is designed for continuous operating temperatures up to 260°C, with its performance depending on the complete application and exposure conditions.


Prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures can affect the ageing and service life of any protected hose or component, so the actual application temperature and exposure duration should be considered when specifying thermal protection.

Does the silicone coating affect the flexibility of the glass fibre sleeve?

The silicone elastomer coating provides a flexible protective outer layer while the knitted E-glass construction allows the sleeve to conform around hoses, cables and pipework.


PGH.20/ROS also has 100% elastic recovery, helping the sleeve accommodate normal movement and dimensional changes within the application.

How does silicone-coated Firesleeve protect against radiant heat?

Heat can reach a hose or component through radiation, convection and conduction. PGH.20/ROS provides a combination of a silicone outer coating and glass fibre thermal barrier to help reduce heat transfer to the protected component.


The effectiveness of the protection depends on factors including the heat-source temperature, distance from the heat source, exposure time, airflow and installation.
